The Journal of Optometry is two years old now. The project of the journal, supported by the Spanish General Council of Optometrists, devoted on being a reference journal in the field of scientific publication in fields related to Optometry and Visual Sciences. This idea, thanks to the collaboration of authors, Editorial Board and reviewer is now a reality. The increasing numbers of papers received for peer-review, the quality of those accepted and published and the cites obtained from authors publishing in other journals are catalysts for a change. The change is to be considered as a journal of first-choice for research publication. A new step for the global fight for research has been done by the journal.

The current Journal of Optometry is published by Elsevier, one of the world's leading publishers of science and health literature. Elsevier publishes approximately 250,000 articles a year in more than 2000 journals. The experience of Elsevier in this new step with the support of research published and subsequent citations will promote the Journal of Optometry to an even more serious competitor for research publication in the field.
