Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and E-health in Vision Research and Clinical Activity
More infoWe would like to thank the author of the reply to our article entitled “Artificial intelligence applied to ophthalmology and optometry: A citation network analysis”,1 for the interest and helpful comments.
First, thanks for detecting the discrepancy between the number of analyzed publications reported in the abstract (1086) and the number reported in the main text (1138). We are afraid that we made a mistake in the revision process due to the suggestion of one reviewer to increase the terms of the search. After following the advice, we changed the number of publications from 1086 to 1138 but by mistake, we did not update it in the abstract. The number in the main text is the right one according to the following methodology.
Secondly, regarding the search strategy, you can replicate the search in WOS including the terms described in the methodology and the established date range, choosing “All Fields”. However, Web of Science publishes early access articles so users can get information as soon as a journal publisher releases it online. These types of documents are available online before a final number is assigned and are identified as “Early Access”, in addition to the type of document in question (Proceeding Paper, article, meeting abstract, etc.). Once the publication is assigned a final number and has a volume, number, and page number, the classification as “early access” is removed, and it is already included in another category.2 We would like to highlight that only publications that were published up to the date mentioned have been considered. For this reason, these types of documents, as they have not yet been published, were not included in our bibliographic search and this is the reason why the number of publications may currently vary.
We hope this information clarifies the search made in this work to be reproducible by other researchers in the future.
